Ten visually impaired massagists have been listed as volunteers for the Olympics in August, the first team iincluding people with visual impairment.
According to data released by the Beijing Massage Training Center for the Blind, more than 500 massagists have applied to become volunteers in the hopes of being engaged in the most sparkling extravaganza in the country's history.
The ten volunteers are senior massagists and have a high level of English. One has passed band four of the College English Test (CET) and another band six.
The College English Test is a national English as a Foreign Language test given in the People's Republic of China. The test the massagists took included listening, reading, and writing sections. The oral test was optional.
An unnamed massagist said, "I'd like to become an Olympic volunteer even though I face the risk of losing my current job."
Wang Yanju, a graduate from Harbin School for the Blind, was one of the ten volunteers selected. "I feel very lucky to take part in and share in the joy of the Olympics."
